Privacy policy

What we collect

Nothing that identifies you. There are no accounts, no sign-ups, no email lists, and no forms that send data to us. If you email us, we see your email address and use it only to reply.

Your study progress

The Citizenship Interview Trainer saves your progress (which questions you have seen, how well you know them, your settings, and any answers you type for questions about your own state or current officials) in your browser's local storage on your own device. It is never sent to us or anyone else. Clearing your browser data, or using Reset progress in the trainer, deletes it. Do not enter anything you would not want stored on a shared device.

Advertising and cookies

We use Google AdSense to show advertisements on our informational pages. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site. Google's use of advertising cookies, including the DoubleClick DART cookie, enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet. You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendors' use of cookies at aboutads.info. Google's own privacy practices are described at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies or web beacons to collect information about your visits to this and other websites in order to provide advertisements about goods and services of interest to you. We do not control these cookies and do not have access to the data they collect. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you will be shown a consent message before any advertising cookies are set, and you can change your choice at any time using the link in the footer of any page.

No ads appear inside the trainer.

Analytics

We may use a privacy-respecting analytics service to count page views and understand which pages are useful. If we do, it does not use cookies and does not identify individual visitors. We will update this page if that changes.

Server logs

Like every website, our hosting provider records standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested, time of request). These are used for security and to keep the site running, and are deleted on the provider's normal schedule.

Children

This site is intended for adults preparing for naturalization. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. Because we collect no personal information at all, no child's data is held here.

Links to other sites

We link to uscis.gov and other government sites. Their privacy practices are their own.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top will change. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept it.
