The 2008 citizenship test
If you filed Form N-400 before October 20, 2025, this is your version: 100 questions, 10 asked, 6 to pass.
Which test you take is set by your filing date, not your interview date, and it does not change if your interview is delayed. Your N-400 receipt notice shows the date.
The two lists overlap heavily. Nearly every 2008 question appears in the 2025 list in the same or similar wording; the 2025 test added about 28 deeper questions and dropped a few simple ones (like naming a state that borders Canada). If you are on the 2008 test, practicing the 128 will more than cover you, and you need only 6 of 10.
65/20 applicants on the 2008 test study a different set of 20 starred questions from the 2008 list.
The official 2008 list is at uscis.gov/citizenship. USCIS also keeps the current officials for both versions on one page.
